It was a very cold day yesterday! This photo is on our way out to run some errands. Ben ended up getting some new insulated Crocs at REI. I also got the desk all setup in the apartment so now I am ready to get to work on some jobs.

kittens need at good home

posted: November 16th, 2009 | filed under: Animals | tags: | No Comments »

KittenWe have three kittens who were trapped as ferals, neutered/spayed, vaccinated, and socialized. They are adorable–two DSH black, and one DLH black and white tuxedo. About 4-5 months old now.

We would love for them to go together but definitely not a requirement.

Please let us know ASAP as we would like to find them good homes soon!

Donation of $50 ($50 each or $60 total if you decide to take all three) appreciated–which will in turn be donated to the Washington Animal Rescue League for spaying/neutering the kittens.

DC Veg FestDC Veg Fest is just around the corner, next weekend to be exact. For those of you out there that are Vegan, Vegetarian, or are just curious about it I would highly recommend attending. It will be held at George Washington University from 12pm to 6pm. There are going to be some great speakers including Rory Freedman (Author of Skinny Bitch), Dr. Michael Greger, Wendy Rieger, and many more. There will also be many great exhibitors and vendors (the best part!). DC Vegan and I will unfortunatily not be able to make it this year. But I know its going to be a great time!!!

DC Veg Fest site is also one of my designs. (not the logo)

freelance-camp

Being somewhat new to the freelance world, at least the more serious side of actually trying to find work and not just through friends of friends i thought it might be a good idea to attend something to work on me skills a little. I came across this in the interwebs.

Freelance Camp is a place to discuss and explore the different approaches to running a successful freelance business / service company. We have based our events on the Barcamp format, which is a network of user generated participatory events whose content is fully provided by the participants. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join. Some of the events are free (thanks to our sponsors) while other charge a token fee to help cover overhead. Each camp is run by a local team of volunteers and is put on for the benefit of the community (not profit). Any left over proceedes are donated to the organizer’s charity of choice. All the events to date have included breakfast, lunch and an after party.

Who should come? If you sell your services (or are considering it), you are a perfect fit: developer, designer, accountant, blogger / journalist, realtor, lawyer, carpenter, engineer, financial adviser, marketer, sales, musician, artist, inventor… Historically, the bulk of attendees are from hi-tech. We encourage all types of owners to come to provide a balanced perspective to business.

* Get experience based answers to your questions.
* Network and meet people running successful freelance businesses.
* Form partnership and collaborate.
* Find clients.
* Help others and be a person of influence.

There is a DC event on November the 5th at the DC Improv, http://www.freelancecampdc.org. And its only $35!
