dc vegan drinks #5

So this month will be the fifth DC Vegan Drinks that I have put on, and we will be back at Bread & Brew again (awesome place & people). I have a had a lot of help, from some great people, and definitely could not have done this by myself. I have to admit I am not the most social person out there so this has been a little hard but good and every event I learn something new. And I guess it has been a success and people enjoy it because people keep coming and I hope they keep coming. I have some special event ideas for down the road so stay tuned.

managing multiple twitter accounts?

If your like me and have multiple Twitter accounts, personal, work, and projects, it can be a hassle to manage them all. There are a number of Twitter account managers out there but one that I came across not to long ago its Splitweet. It is a web based manager but you can make it a desktop app using either Fluid (Mac) or Prism (Windows & Linux). I have not tried it yet, I have used Prism to make other apps and it is not that hard. But anyway, I really like Splitweets Dashboard, you have your feed from all your accounts, you have replies on the right and a nice collapsible input area to tweet. Its really easy to pick what account you want to use just by selecting a check box. You can look at just certain accounts or all accounts and you have a feed of direct messages on the side. I would defiantly recommend giving it a try.

busted pipe!

we have a leaking pipe that was leaking water into the house, we haven’t had water in about a week. we got an estimate of $2800 to replace the whole pipe. after getting a second opinion, the plumber seems to think that the leak is at the foundation. so to save some money i dug this whole, 5 feet down, to the pipe. the plumber is suppose to come out saturday or sunday to take a looksee. i also found out from one of my neighbors that the whole pipe was just replaced about 4 years ago. i am really hoping it gets fixed this weekend.

dc vegan

This is one of my personal and biggest projects, http://dcvegan.com. I started DC Vegan a couple years ago after Meg (my wife) and I finished a little stint in the Application Trail (http://veganthruhikers.com, currently forwards to this site, but I may bring it back for another project). But I wanted to continue my Vegan passion and that’s how DC Vegan came to be. But the current site is version 3, and I think definitely my favorite, I think version 4 will go in a completely different direction. DC Vegan is a blog that is about everything vegan and animal rights related in Washington DC. DC Vegan has a handful of great contributors, I couldn’t do it by myself cause I am not that good of a writer. DC Vegan is based on a template with a few modifications, some added plug-ins, and I have added a forum too. I do the graphic work for DC Vegan too, the current logo is also version 3.  Ill post previous versions on my portfolio page. So if you have not checked out DC Vegan now is the time.

kicking for kids who can’t

I have been working with Kicking For Kids Who Can’t from the begining and this is the 3rd site that i have done for the event, and probably the best yet. It is powered by Wordpress and is based on the Interphase theme by Elegant Themes. I did a lot of modifying to the template and the color scheme. I aslo added rotating header images and a photo gallery.

welcome to the new website

i hope to use this site as more of a portfolio for my work. so check back soon as i am still developing it.
