Coffee with my lady

We made it down to the shore last night, Ella (my 88 BMW 325) did a great job, her first long trip since I got her a couple months ago. I till have some steering wheel shake that I have yet to get fixed, but it wasn’t to bad. We got up early like we usually do when we come down here and go have coffee and watch the sun rise on the beach. Its been a pretty lazy morning just drinking coffee and hanging out with Kathleen’s folks and her brother and his wife and little girl. Planning on going to the beach shortly, its such a beautiful day today! Kathleen just put a cake in the oven and the house smells delicious!

A few things for the New Year

I haven’t really made any New Year Resolutions in a while and I am not sure if Ill start now. But there are a few things I think I want to continue to build on and accomplish in 2012. Not sure if they would count as a resolution, for one New Year Resolutions always seem to fail for one and I don’t want these to fail and two they are things I am just building one and have been working at for a while.

First is one that I have been working on for a while Professionally, it is to become an Engineer. I am almost there one of my primary goals that I need to do to get here is to get a Certification. I have found this very hard to accomplish between my current workload and my busy life as a Dad. It can be any certification and at this point I probably just going to go after what ever is easiest. This move to Engineer I really need professionally and financially.

Second is to live more simply. Ever since my life took a big 360 a few years back and realized how much shit I have, I decided to live as simply as I could only acquire what I only really really need and not to buy crap so it will last as long as possible. I am going to continue to build on this as much as I can. I think first thing I will do is to start applying this to tech like iPhone apps and web services that I just don’t really need. This will save me a some monies too! I will also will apply to physical items as will only acquire or replace things that really need to be. I think consumerism is a little out of control and has been for a long time and it just drives me a little nuts.

I recently read a post by Paul Jarvis http://pjrvs.com/unconsume which I really love and I think will apply to my 2012.

Hope everyone has a wonderful 2012!

Live Simply!
